Where Did this project take place? & For how Long?
The End of studies project has took place in a very known and well reputed plastic transformation company LAMETALLOPLASTIC which is located in the Industrial Zone of Ezzahra
The company specialises in the fabrication of packaging items in plastic and it has been working with the best technicians and engineers since 1973
I started working on this project within LAMETALLOPLASTIC from 20 February 2021 until 30 August 2021
What I Did as a Chemical Engineering intern in this project
As a chemical engineer I had alot of fields to apply what i studied in this industry, but i was thankful that the main subject of this project was quality optimization.
Which made me learn about three important fields in my study :
Synthesis of raw plastic materials
Plastic Transformation Processes in Tunisia
Design of Experiments and how to fully use it into a plastic industry
The main Goals achieved by this project were:
- Defined and studied the important injection parameters for the realization of the PP Pot
- Applied a new method for optimizing the injection process which is the Design of experiments (Les plans d'expériences)
- Used two DoE softwares for the optimization of the process : NEMRODW & MINITAB
- Was Successfully able to lower the cycle time of the process
- Lowered the Shrinkage rate (Retrait) by controlling the parameters
- Successfully diminished the mass of raw materiel (Polypropylene)
- Study of Lean Management and quality monitoring of finished products: extrusion blow molding and plastic injection
Final words
The owner of the company (Mr Khalfet Tarak) was extremely helpful and has given me full freedom into the industry. That by itself has helped me a lot understand the injection process, and successfully apply my research theories in real life application
I also have met such wonderful people at the LAMETALLOPLASTIC that included me within their team and made me feel at ease working with them, they've tried their best to stand by me in every possible way they can
